Executive Committee

  • Lloyd Solovi, Board Chair & President

Lloyd Solovi has a deep passion for serving his community. Born and raised in Salt Lake City, he is a graduate of West High School and proudly enlisted in the Army after graduating from West High. During his time at West, he served as President of The Polynesian Club, and is keen on reviving the club’s influence for current enrolled West High students.

Lloyd is a part of the founding organizing body that successfully executed the inaugural West Poly Reunion, recognizing the contributions of Pacific Islanders at West High School.

Lloyd is of Samoan and German ancestry. He and his team continue to cultivate a safe space to share the rich culture(s) of Polynesia and elevate educational opportunities for the Pacific Islander community at West and beyond.

Lloyd has been in the airline/hospitality and transportation industry for two decades. He is married to his partner, Gerardo and lives in the Rose Park neighborhood on Salt Lake City’s west side. He is brother to West football coach, Olosa’a Solovi Jr.

  • David Solomon II, Vice President

David Jaffa Solomon II was born in San Diego, California but was raised on Independence Blvd in Rose Park. He grew up playing basketball and baseball but later fell in love with football his freshman year at West High. After graduating from West in 2012, David bounced around a few colleges before earning a full ride athletic scholarship to play at Tarleton State University in Stephenville, Texas. There, he graduated with his bachelor’s degree in Kinesiology and made the Dean’s List his senior year.

David loves spending time with his family. Their hobbies include golfing, playing cards, bowling and traveling together. David never wishes to be the life of the party but he definitely enjoys himself wherever he’s at! He also likes listening to music and watching television in his downtime. His favorite movie series is Harry Potter and he is a proud Gryffindor!

Life after sports can be a difficult adjustment but David has found a new sense of belonging and purpose with the West Poly Alumni. He hopes to continue in helping bring his neighborhood and community together for years to come! Because like DMX once said, “to live, is to suffer. To survive.. well, that’s to find meaning in the suffering.”

  • Kat Pahulu, Secretary

After graduating from West in 1998, Kat continued on her education at the University of Utah before taking a break to serve a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in La Paz, Bolivia. After completing her education at BYU-Hawaii, Kat moved to Maui where she married her best friend, Leo.

Kat spent several years working in banking before moving over to hotels where she managed several different departments over the course of her career. At the beginning of the pandemic, the Paulu’s decided it was the perfect time to move across the pond to Utah. Kat had enjoyed being closer to family, reconnecting with old friends, and making new ones. While back in Utah, Kat has started a business teaching CPR, Fist Aid, and AED.
